Multimedia and Interactive Simulation Tools for Prehospital and Inhospital Preparedness and Response in MCIs and Disasters (2-day course)

This course is designed to provide a general overview on different tools used in education and training in the field of disaster medicine. Specific  application of multimedia and interactive simulation tools for prehospital and inhospital preparedness and response in mass casualties incidents and disasters will be presented. After a brief introduction on the basic foundations of the use of simulation and its impact on education, different tools will be presented and participants will be allowed to be players in the game rotating in three different settings:

  1. Table top exercises based on Emergo – Train
  2. Computer-based exercise in the pre-hospital setting – I SEE – developed in the framework of a “Leonardo da Vinci” project.
  3. Computer based exercise for hospital response to disasters - HDPnets – developed in the European Master of Disaster Medicine.
